what to consider when choosing your e-bike

Do some research. before parting with money get to know the seller, will they support you if you get a problem or hide?  Do they know what they are selling and appreciate what you, the customer wants/needs.   Test ride an example of the bike, if you can and  check out reviews, but be aware some reviews can be fake.   If you see a very low price, ask yourself is it too good to be true?

  • after the excitement of the buying experience of bagging the bike with the fantastic sales pitch you don't want to find out the seller cannot or will not support their product. At minster we provide market leading warranty support because we don't expect our bikes to break in normal use, so lifetime warranty on the frame and 12 months on the major electric components is what we can confidently provide. We wouldn't do this if the bike was low quality. After the warranty period we will do what we can to help.
  • availability of parts and accessories.  We build our bikes using good quality branded parts, so getting genuine spares is not difficult or expensive either through Minster or by yourself
  • power and motor options:   we primarily sell road legal Chopster e-bikes: 250 Watts of power is enough for most users, and a rear hub motor is suitable for the majority of applications: But, if you want something special we can build  specials up to our 2000W total power rear hub or 2 wheel drive
  • battery size and quality
    • to provide 12 months warranty on batteries we have to be careful in our sourcing and material specification. hence our battery sizes are matched to the bikes and we only use  cells from the major OEMs
  • range
    • we offer the option to add a 2nd battery to extend the bikes range, please discuss with Minster what you require.
    • The range of an e-bike is dictated by many variables. some sellers quote 80km plus. this is unrealistic. maybe if the pedal assist is switched off they could claim 1000 km on a full charge. A battery can only hold so much energy and to help you see through the outrageous claims of some manufacturers we have included a page all about what to range to expect from your bike. Our 21 Ah battery has about 50km in it when ridden sensibly in average uk conditions. (That is fine for me because I get bored after about 45km.)
