E-bike running cost

E-bikes are powered by the energy stored in the battery plus the human effort of the rider. Typically a Chopster 250Rwith a 48volt 13aH battery has a realistic range of about 40 miles, but less if you put in minimum effort and use the throttle a lot.

Using your car to go to work costs around 25p per mile, more when you add in Insurance, car tax, maintenance etc. If you go by public transport the cost can be more or less, depending on what mode you can use.

Another factor to consider is convenience and time. How much time is wasted in traffic, getting to the bus stop or station? Using your chopster you can zip through traffic and where available use cycle routes. Avoid the unpredictability of public transport and frustration of traffic queues. Your journey to work becomes more predictable and you get some exercise, whilst also being kinder to the planet.

In terms of costs your bike will get you around 3 miles per pence, yes 300 mile per £1.00 in electricity costs.

using your chopster on your daily commute will pay for itself in savings....effectively a free bike in about a year.
